This Saturday, 26th July, the picturesque Narin Beach in Portnoo, Co. Donegal, will play host to a full day of thrilling racing as two major events in the Irish coastal rowing calendar take centre stage: the 2025 Swift Irish Junior Coastal Rowing Championships and the Home International Beach Sprints Qualifiers.

Rowing Ireland is delighted to confirm the return of the Swift Irish Junior Coastal Rowing Championships, hosted by Loughros Point Rowing Club and supported by event partner Swift Racing. This key fixture will welcome junior crews from across the country as they compete for national honours across endurance and sprint disciplines.

Athletes will take to a 2200m coastal course, with racing categories including:

  • Junior 18: Men’s and Women’s Single, Double, Coxed Quad; Mixed Double and Mixed Coxed Quad
  • Junior 16: Men’s and Women’s Single, Double, Coxed Quad; Mixed Double and Mixed Coxed Quad
  • Junior 14: Men’s and Women’s Coxed Quad

With strong entries across all age groups, the event represents a vital development opportunity for Ireland’s next generation of coastal rowers.

Selection on the Sand
Running alongside the Junior Championships will be the Home International Beach Sprints Qualifiers, where athletes will compete for the chance to represent Ireland at the 2025 Home International Regatta. That event will also take place at Narin Beach, later this year on Saturday, 20th September.

The fast-paced beach sprint format promises high-energy, spectator-friendly racing, with athletes required to demonstrate not only speed and fitness but also technical precision and race-day strategy.

Watch Live
Supporters unable to travel can still catch the action via the Loughros Point Rowing Club Facebook page, where live coverage will be streamed throughout the day.

Looking Ahead
Rowing Ireland extends best wishes to all athletes, coaches, volunteers, and clubs involved. With its unique setting and packed race schedule, this weekend at Narin Beach is set to be a celebration of talent and the continued growth of coastal rowing in Ireland.
