Last weekend, Athlone Regatta saw blue skies and perfect racing conditions for the penultimate event in the Waterways Ireland ‘Row for It’ League. With strong competition across multiple age categories, the standings remain tight as the league heads into its final stage.
Castleconnell Boat Club continue to lead in both the Men’s and Women’s J14 4x events, showing consistency throughout the season. Shannon Rowing Club also retained their position at the top of the Men’s J15 4x category. In the Men’s J13 4x, St Joseph’s Rowing Club gained an additional ten points to draw level with Waterford Boat Club, setting up an exciting finale.
Enniskillen have now taken the lead in the Women’s J13 4x, while Castleconnell Boat Club maintain their advantage in the Women’s J15 4x. However, the pressure is on, with St Michael’s Rowing Rowing Club Club just six points behind.
The final regatta of the league will take place at Carrick-on-Shannon Sprint Regatta on August 3rd. With double points on offer, the current table standings could shift dramatically. League winners will be awarded t-shirts, medals, and pennants on the day.
