Day 4 of the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai saw Rowing Ireland crews deliver determined performances as they continued their campaign on the world stage. The PR2 Mix2x crew progressed to the B Final following their heat, while Konan Pazzaia advanced to the C Final of the Men’s Single. Meanwhile, weather conditions and issues surrounding lane reallocation resulted in the postponement of the Men’s Double Sculls semi-final.
PR2 Mix2x | Tiarnán O’Donell & Sadhbh Ní Laoighre
Tiarnán O’Donell and Sadhbh Ní Laoighre finished fourth in their heat of the PR2 Mixed Double Sculls. The crew fought hard but were unable to match the early pace of the race, holding their position throughout to finish with a time of 09:09.88. They progress to Saturday’s B Final.
B Final: 27th September – 6:05am IST (Lane 3)
M1x | Konan Pazzaia
Konan Pazzaia produced a strong performance in a competitive quarter-final of the Men’s Single Sculls. The race was tightly contested over the first 1000 metres, with Konan battling between fourth and fifth position. A powerful sprint in the final stages saw him secure fourth place with a time of 07:22.07, seeing him progress to the C Final.
C Final: 26th September – 5:17am IST (Lane 2)
M2x | Fintan McCarthy & Philip Doyle
The Men’s Double Scull semi-final featuring Philip Doyle and Fintan McCarthy was postponed due to weather conditions and issues with lane reallocation. It will now take place tomorrow, 25th September at 4:15am IST.
