The 2025 1K Classic, hosted at the Lough Rinn Rowing Centre over the weekend, brought together over 1,030 competitors from 46 clubs across the country. Organised by Rowing Ireland and meticulously coordinated by the 2025 1K Classic Committee under the guidance of Donal Cronin, the event delivered an unforgettable two days of high-energy racing, community spirit, and sporting camaraderie.
With a significant increase in entries this year, the regatta featured 904 crews and expanded to a two-day format to accommodate the growing interest. The MJ15 1x was the most hotly contested category, highlighting the strength and enthusiasm of junior rowing in Ireland.
The Victor Ludorum title went to Enniskillen, topping the points table with an impressive 95 points, followed by Skibbereen on 72 and Lee Rowing Club on 61.
The weather played its part too — mostly favourable conditions with occasional light tailwinds added a dynamic element to the racing. From the banks of Lough Rinn to the finish line, the atmosphere was electric.
But what truly defined this year’s event was the incredible camaraderie witnessed at the finish line. Regardless of whether crews placed first or sixth, competitors cheered each other on, embodying the best of our sport’s spirit.
A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers, without whom the event simply wouldn’t be possible. From the Rowing Ireland core team to the Championship committee and countless helping hands on the ground, your commitment and passion made it all happen.
