The second day of the Irish Rowing Championships got underway this morning with a series of time trials in calm conditions, ahead of the rising temperatures. The stage was set for an exciting day of racing as clubs from across the country battled for Irish Rowing Championships titles.  

Cork Boat Club’s Barry O’Flynn and Fionnan Tolan secured victory in the Men’s Senior Pair, while Methodist College Boat Club claimed a narrow win in the Junior 18 Women’s Double Sculls. Enniskillen powered to first place in the Junior 16 Men’s Eight ahead of St Joseph’s Rowing Club. UCC Rowing Club delivered a standout performance in the Senior Women’s Coxed Quad. Dublin University Ladies Boat Club took gold in the Women’s Intermediate Pair. Queen’s University Belfast had a successful morning session with wins in both the Men’s and Women’s Novice Coxed Quads. 

The evening finals delivered a series of impressive performances, beginning with a narrow win for St Michael’s Rowing Club over Shandon Boat Club in the Women’s Junior 18 Four. Skibbereen’s Emily Hegarty and Aoife Casey claimed a dominant victory in the Senior Women’s Pair, while the UCC/Skibbereen composite crew secured the Senior Men’s Coxless Quad title with a strong lead. The University of Galway Boat Club crew took gold in the Men’s Intermediate Pair, and Enniskillen Royal Boat Club edged Neptune by three seconds in a thrilling Junior Men’s Eight race. In the junior 16 events, St Michael’s triumphed in the Men’s Double Sculls, Galway took top honors in the Women’s Eight, and Neptune’s Kilgallon finished first in the Women’s Intermediate Single Sculls.
