Cork Regatta took place last weekend, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of June, at the National Rowing Centre. Perfect weather conditions set the stage for an exhilarating two days of competition, with over 200 races and over 700 crews keeping the atmosphere lively and competitive throughout.
Saturday featured standout performances across multiple categories. Junior European bronze medallist Jonah Kirby of Kenmare Rowing Club secured victory in a closely contested Men’s Division 1 single sculls final. In the Women’s Division 1 single sculls final, Aine O’Mahony from Fermoy Rowing Club delivered a strong performance to take the win.
UL Rowing Club had a successful regatta in the eights categories, securing victories in the Women’s Division 1 eight, as well as the Men’s and Women’s Division 2 eights.
On Sunday, UCD Boat Club claimed the prestigious Leander Trophy after a commanding row in the Men’s Division 1 eight.
