The first Grand League event of the 2025 racing season took place on the 12th April with Skibbereen Regatta.
The four events that comprise the Grand League are Cork Regatta, Dublin Metropolitan Regatta, Lough Rinn Regatta, and Skibbereen Regatta. In contrast to traditional regattas, these events are divided into two divisions, which enables rowers to compete against crews of comparable speed instead of being limited to their age or points category.
Senior, Lightweight, Intermediate, Club 1, and Junior 18A grades make up Division 1, while Club 2, Junior 18 B, Novice, and Junior 16 grades make up Division 2.
All of the Grand League events will award points to clubs based on how each of their crews finishes. Each club’s points will be totaled at the end of the four competitions, and the top clubs in Division 1 Men, Division 1 Women, Division 2 Men, and Division 2 Women will each get a trophy. The team with the most first-place finishes will win in the case of a deadlock. At the Rowing Ireland Awards in December, the winning clubs will receive their prizes.
