The 2025 Irish Coastal Rowing Championship got underway today at the National Rowing Centre in Cork, hosted this year by Ballycotton Rowing Club.
Competitors and spectators alike enjoyed fantastic conditions, setting the stage for a thrilling opening day of racing. The action began with the heats, before moving into a series of highly competitive finals.
Ballycotton, the host club, got off to a flying start, securing wins in Masters Men, Intermediate Mixed, U14, U21 Women, and Vet Mixed.
Kilmacsimon also impressed with victories in Senior Mixed, U18, and U16 Women. Passage West had a strong showing too, with wins in Pre-Vet Mixed and Junior Mixed.
Meanwhile, Passage West and Galley Flash celebrated victories in U12 Women and Pre-Vet Women.
The day concluded in style with the traditional races, rounding off what was truly an excellent first day of competition. Congratulations to all the athletes on their performances, and a special thank you to the volunteers and officials.
Racing resumes tomorrow with Day 2 kicking off at 9:00am – we look forward to another exciting day on the water!
