Garda Vetting Rowing Club Validator Training https://www.rowingireland.ie/garda-vetting-rowing-club-validator-training/ https://www.rowingireland.ie/garda-vetting-rowing-club-validator-training/#respond Thu, 11 Sep 2025 08:39:28 +0000 https://www.rowingireland.ie/?p=32783 As Part of recent updates to the Republic of Ireland’s National Garda Vetting process, important changes are now required for all affiliated clubs.

Each club seeking to have members vetted must appoint and register a Rowing Club Validator (RVC). The RCV will be responsible for reviewing and signing all Garda Vetting applications prior to submission. This step will ensure applications are correctly completed and compliant before being processed by Rowing Ireland.

To support our clubs, Rowing Ireland will host a series of online training sessions for newly appointed RCV’s. Please note that only vetting applications submitted through a trained and registered RCV will be accepted.

Rowing Club Validator Training Final Date

  • Wednesday, 24th September (7-8pm)

Sorry. This form is no longer available.

It is essential that your club has a registered RCV. From Thursday 25th September 2025, Garda Vetting applications from clubs without a registered RCV will not be accepted.

As always Rowing Ireland only submits Garda Vetting applications for registered members of Rowing Ireland.

Thank you for your cooperation in implementing this important update.

Rowing Ireland Upcoming Safeguarding Courses https://www.rowingireland.ie/rowing-ireland-upcoming-safeguarding-courses/ https://www.rowingireland.ie/rowing-ireland-upcoming-safeguarding-courses/#respond Wed, 13 Aug 2025 09:34:39 +0000 https://www.rowingireland.ie/?p=32429 Safeguarding legislation in both Northern Ireland and Ireland is based on a clear and consistent set of principles, with the shared goal of promoting the welfare of young people. Young people have the right to be safe, and all coaches must ensure that this principle takes precedence over all other considerations.

Any Rowing Ireland member who interacts with participants under the age of 18 must complete a Safeguarding Course. Rowing Ireland offers Safeguarding One training online with a Sport Ireland–accredited tutor. These three-hour workshops are held on Tuesday evenings from 6–9 PM, cost €15, and the certification is valid for three years.

Upcoming course dates are 2 September, 7 October, and 4 November. Places are limited, so early registration is advised through the Rowing Ireland website: https://www.rowingireland.ie/safeguarding/

If you have previously completed the Safeguarding Course but your certification has expired (after three years), you can complete a free online refresher through Sport Ireland here: Safeguarding 1 Online Refresher Course

Rowing Ireland Launches New Membership Platform for Members & Clubs https://www.rowingireland.ie/rowing-ireland-launches-new-membership-platform-for-members-clubs/ https://www.rowingireland.ie/rowing-ireland-launches-new-membership-platform-for-members-clubs/#respond Wed, 30 Jul 2025 14:24:00 +0000 https://www.rowingireland.ie/?p=32217 Rowing Ireland is excited to unveil its new and enhanced Membership Platform, designed to streamline the way members interact with the organisation and make club administration easier than ever before.

This upgrade introduces individual registration, giving members full control over their personal data and membership details for the first time. By adopting modern, member-led practices, this move is a significant step toward improving the overall rowing experience for both individuals and clubs.

Key Benefits of the New Platform:

  • Individual Registration: Members now register directly with Rowing Ireland, simplifying the process and reducing the administrative workload for club secretaries.
  • Data Control: Members can manage and update their personal details and track their membership status through a secure, personal profile.
  • Enhanced Reporting: Rowing Ireland now has the ability to generate detailed membership reports, supporting better decision-making, strategic planning, and funding applications.
  • Improved User Experience: The mobile-friendly platform is designed to be intuitive, making it easy for members to stay engaged and connected with the rowing community.

This transition marks an exciting opportunity for both club secretaries and members. Club secretaries will now have more time to focus on supporting rowers and managing club activities, while members gain greater autonomy over their participation in the sport they love.

Looking Ahead

In the coming weeks, Rowing Ireland will collaborate with its platform provider to offer webinars, resources, and FAQs to guide both clubs and individual members through the transition process.

Important Information for 2026:

  • There will be no increase in Rowing Ireland Club Affiliation or Member Registration fees for 2026.
  • New members can register with Rowing Ireland from September 2025, with this registration covering the 2026 season.
  • Entries for competitions in 2026 will continue to be managed through the Rowing Ireland tracker forum.

Let’s embrace this change and move forward together—rowers first!
