Level One Coaching Course information

What is this course?

Three days, hands-on training to become a Level One rowing coach. This course combines classroom learning with real coaching practice. The course hours add up to 24 hours of structured learning.

What will you learn?

Each day covers different topics to build your coaching skills:

Coach & Athlete Traits: Discover what makes a great coach and a motivated athlete. Learn how to create a supportive training space.

Communication & Planning: Learn how to talk clearly, set goals, and plan training programs

Technique & Video Analysis: Spot common mistakes, use drills to improve technique, and learn how to use video for feedback.

Coaching Best Practices: Keep training diaries and develop your coaching style.

Nutrition & Hydration: Discover how what athletes eat and drink affects their performance.

Safety First: Learn important safety rules and how to keep rowing fun and safe.

Strength & Conditioning: Understand how to build athlete strength safely.

On‑Water Coaching Practice: Get real feedback while coaching on the water.

Who Can Join?

You can sign up if:

-You are 18 years or older.

-You have completed the Introduction to Coaching Course.

-You are actively coaching already.

-You have completed Garda vetting (or Access Northern Ireland approval).

-You have completed a Safeguarding course.

-You have access to a computer or tablet with internet for the online sections of the course.

How will you be assessed?

Your progress is checked and assessed during the course. After successful completion, you receive a certificate from Rowing Ireland and Sport Ireland Coaching.

What does it cost and how to register?

The fee is €350. You confirm your place, then pay to secure your spot. You sign up by filling out this registration form:
